The fork is the best-looking part of this bike.

Woah, that is one ugly bike/fork - I also don't like the way the downtube looks like it's sagging. A curvy frame can be nice, but that looks like it's been melted.

Still, if it rides well does it matter?

Not quite as pretty as an Air 9 but not an “Ugly” bike just a bit different to the norm….

Ticks a few boxes: 29er, SS, Rigid, Carbon…

I like it… it’s obviously a “Poor Mans” Niner, not that there’s anything wrong with that.
On one are just trying to fill a market gap, surely the most important is how does it ride? Anyone?

It looks like a child's bike that's contracted elephantiasis. It just needs an Ickle Pickle basket on the front and some nice bold primary coloured graphics. Possibly with some flowers on

I can see why it's £1000 cheaper than an air nine. I think i will continue saving.

I think they've made a mistake taking a non-painted frame - a decent paint job would help change the visible shape of the frame/fork and leave it looking a lot better.

The bit that jars for me is where the down tube joins the head tube box - there's a sharp crease that just looks wrong.

I don't have a problem with the rest of it.

(Note: I do own a carbon 456)

I suppose if you buy your Niche machines only on looks alone then it’s probably not for you…

It’s simply a case of: same function + half the price + less pretty = “Function over fashion"…

To be fair Singletrack’s own review of the Air Nine effectively said, it’s a bike you buy based on it’s looks, to be useable on a daily basis you’d need to fit gears and a bouncy fork, which would ruin the aesthetic and half the original appeal of it…

At least with this OO you’d never think it was too pretty to change parts or flog it…

There's always a Scandal 29er (Cheaper and prettier)

Just looks different thats all. I like it!

Will be interesting to see what its like with a finish/decals on the frame, although to me it seems On One are struggling a bit with how to finish the carbon frames but then aesthetics never were their strong point.

I'd love to have a go as well. Bet its silly light.

My son struggles to come out with me when I am on my all black steel 29ner but he would probably leave home if one of those turned up! And I love all (nearly all) pedal machines....

nuke - it's a different frame - the one at the top of the page is the 'lurcher' and is supposed to be less 'race specific' than the one you've shown.

As I said I think it woudl look better painted rather than in shiney black.

Lurch more like, I thought my c456 was ugly but it's a looker compared to that.

I don't like SS.
I don't like 29ers.
I don't like bendy, swoopy frames.
I don't like rigid forks.

But I do like that. In fact, it's the only On-One I've ever remotely liked. I'm thoroughly confused.

I would have thought that all that really matters is how does the bike/ fork combo perform

or do people stare at their bike as they ride along?/ sit in a cafe?

I would buy and ride an ugly bike (in fact I have) it wouldn't bother me, but when asked I would concede it was ugly.

bowed-out downtube scares me a bit - looks like the wheel will come pretty close when a sus fork compresses. Presumably somebody's measured it

Some bikes and cars look ugly in photos, when you see them in the flesh they are fine. The carbon 456 is a bit like that and I suspect this one will be the same.

I agree
DONK nowt wrong with an ugly bike if it rides well but that has gone too far for me to even consider I take back everything I said about it's little brother itis the looker in that family

Lovely, looks awesome, want one (with gears though)!
Will match my 456c, and anyways, looks are subjective, you don't see the thing when you are riding it and if you are that bothered about whether folk think your bike looks nice just put on the full face lid you undoubtedly have for canal tow paths and your anonymity will be preserved. 😉

Looks very nice, but I can't see any rack or mudguard eyelets. All hybrids should have those, IMO.

If I had to buy a one geared hybrid, I would rather it be cheap, I've seen a lot worse.

I like it a lot. If I had the space for another bike, and could overcome my idealogical 29er aversion, I'd have one. The perfect aesthetic yin to my Soda's yang.

It looks like a road racer, except that the front end has to be messed about with to accommodate a suspension fork. Look at pictures of Pinarello road racers for the fork shape. To my taste it's be alright without the stem spacers, but I like it less than I like straight-tubed steel bikes.
