Few months back, went to refit my shorty for the winter. Couldn't find it. Tore the place apart, gave up, bought a magic mary. It's pretty good but I prefer the shorty, decided to get another...

Now I was sure I had an Exo, 29er, 2.5, maxxgrip shorty. But that tyre doesn't seem to exist. There's not one on the Maxxis website and I can't find any anywhere on the net.

Which made me wonder, is that why I can't find it? Did it never in fact exist? Or has it been erased from time, like in the documentary Back to the Future?

Do I exist?

Have you had a vaccine jab?
If not you'll be returned to the Matrix once you've had it and the tyre you seek will be hanging on the wall where you left it.....

Did you buy it online? Try going through your emails to find the order/receipt.

If not you’ll be returned to the Matrix

i always thought the machines’ mistake in the matrix was having people go to work. if they’d let people ride endlessly on beautiful trails with imaginary tyres then no one would have complained.

edit: there’s a lesson in there for anyone working in ai. don’t give it the impression we’d rather be at work.

They tried that and it didn't work. It was in the subsequent versions where no one actually rode and all they did was dick about on STW while "at work", did the Matrix work.

It would have been 3C Maxterra.

That was the first version of the Matrix, but us humans rejected it because we enjoy being miserable.

Anyhoo.

Looking at what's coming out on the new Shorty the only Exo casing 29er is Max Terra so that's probably what the original version was.

If the MM is a 29 x 2.6 I'll take it off your hands.

I’m adamant that specialised storm controls used to have teardrop shaped knobs on, but no one else I know seems to remember this.

I had the same thoughts myself - from the Shorty2 thread :-

@Northwind – current version of Shorty is due in to Madison in MaxxGrip Exo version in April…. now would be nice, but I’m all too aware that it’s usefulness window is wider than just winter here in Glasgow! I’m tragically excited.

Edit – just logged in to see if the date has moved, and the listing has disappeared…. ☹️

Possibly not depending on where you bought it Northwind. Were you checking the Global website or Maxxis UK? I have Maxxis tyres that aren’t on the UK site, only the global one. Bought from elsewhere in the EU. If that makes sense?

Somewhere in the "bike room" I have lost a huge bike water bottle. Literally the biggest I could find/buy, around 800ml.

I absolutely cannot find it. I threw it onto the floor during a Zwift session last year as I drank the last bit from it and it's gone.

In pretty sure my bike room has a singularity in it somewhere and the bottle is now residing on some planet in another galaxy.

Basically my bike room is like a low budget Interstellar.

I've tried looking for patterns in the dust but to no avail and I bloody loved that water bottle.

I also remember the tear drop storm control, absolute classic, I never had one but lusted after a pair at every muddy race.

Both my wife and I are convinced she bought me a gorillapod tripod for Christmas one year but neither of us have ever seen it.

I suspect it went in the bin with wrapping paper but it was quite big and heavy so not easy to miss and we recycle/check everything.

Worst is despite many hints, she hasn't bought me another one...

My garage floor is the same, but it spits thing back out occasionally to mock me.

Its why I own 3 cassette tools

Quantum entanglement. As soon as you buy another the original tyre will reappear. I have multiple 10 mm spanners and sockets and also multiple 6mm allen keys because of quantum entanglement

So it seems like it was either an exo maxxterra or a DD maxxgrip. Wish I knew which, I want another one!

That’s the one sillyoldman. Thanks to those who confirmed, I thought I was starting the memory confusion stage of my life.

As for losing things, one sock has to be worst. Then you throw it out and like TJ’s hypothesis the other reappears. That must make quantum entanglement a theory as it has been proved.
