Thinking of treating my Pivot Mach 6 to Di2, was initially put off by the cost but looking on the internet and sourcing from different sites I can get the below for about £450. Pivot website has the junction box/cable requirements but can anybody confirm the below is correct or if I need anything else?

Display SC-MT800
Deraileur RD-M8050-GS
Shifter Junction Box SW-M8050-R
Di2 Battery Shimano IBTDN1101
Shifter Junction Box Shimano ISMJC41
500mm Di2 Wire Shimano IEWSD50L50
850mm Di2 Wire Shimano IEWSD50L85
1000mm Di2 Wire Shimano IEWSD50L100

I think you need a cable to join the shifter to the display. Then the other three cables will join rear mech to junction box, battery to junction box and junction box to display. It's been ages since I set one of these up.

I've got an XTR Shifter brand new here, if it's any use ping me an offer.

Your wire lengths might be a bit off, where are you siting battery and junction box?

Forgot about the shifter/display cable.

Thanks

Cable lengths are a cut n paste from Pivot website,

If pivot are definitely correct on their lengths then just add that 4th cable you’re missing. I recently did a setup on my road bike and found you need to allow more cable length then you think. I under measured the length of my rear mech cable and had to order a longer one after trial fitting the first.

I assume either the 850 or 1000 must be the rear mech to junction box with the 500 being battery to junction box?

The 1000 would be display to junction, assuming the junction is in the bottom bracket. 850mm seems long for junction to rear mech though.

From Pivots install PDF
1000mm for display to junction box
850mm for JB to derailleur
500mm for battery to JB

Whats the deference between the XTR and XT version?

Not sure, possibly just aesthetics, can't see them going to the trouble of a redesign for such a niche product.

I usually use a 650mm from mech to bb junction on road/gravel bikes, I'd expect mtb to be longer slightly. better to be overly long than too short as they don't weigh anything.

Final question

Can I use a normal usb charger or do I need to buy a Di2 charger?

I've just bought a bunch of Di2 cables / batteries and found Rose Bikes had the best prices.

Decathlon were nearly as cheap for battery and cheapest for battery charger.

Also bought a M8050 display from RAD sport / ebay for about £65. Arrived quickly in OEM packaging (bubblewrap)

A Di2 charging cable, which does have a box of electronics on it (even has firmware) but which plugs into a standard USB charger.

Crossed my mind to change to Di2 when my XO groupset wears out.

How much would all of that cost mate in total?

Also, might be a daft question but is the display essential? Is it just a display or does it have another purpose?

The display tells you how much battery you have left, controls the different functions like syncroshift and it’s where you charge the battery from. So pretty essential.

It's a display, but also a charging port and it's how you set up the system and trim the gears. I didn't use it however and I thought they were ugly, so I used the road under the stem version without display.

If you do this, then you can fit the Bluetooth module and get most of the display functions and more on your Garmin. Assuming you have a Garmin, obvs.

Thanks again, although its drifting out of budget I think.
