So, plugged it in. Worked perfectly from the off. E-TUBE on phone says update firmware, whole system goes dead. Dig out an old laptop, plug it in, get system going, all firmware updated but it doesn’t even see the wireless jobbie.
Tried unplugging everything from the control box, and tried connecting it alone. The rest of the system is fine, I just can’t get the software to detect the wireless box (inline).
Has anyone got a solution that doesn’t involve a lot of bad swears.
I could not be bothered to try and sort out my wireless unit and just took it out of the system.
if the wireless signal drops mid update they seem to throw a hissy fit
Sorry not much help
It was so good for the ten seconds it worked. I guess I need to return it, get a new one and plug straight into pc to update.
I would plug it into a SM-PCE1 next and see.
There’s a mode on the desktop E-Tube software to run diagnostics/updates on individual components - try it on that first
It’s the squiggly wire icon option rather than Road Bike/MTB/E-Bike options.
I tried but it seems to need a different interface, also the E-TUBE doesn’t even see the wireless box.
When this happened on mine a while back, I was left staring at a very expensive singlespeed, took everything apart and cleaned all connectors.
It wasn’t until I disconnected the battery from the system then re-plugged it in that it started working again.
Hope that helps.
Thanks, but I’ve tried disconnecting everything and reconnecting. The system works again but it still can’t see the wireless box. I think it’s shagged.
Update- sent unit back to Evans, they refunded the day they got it.
New unit arrived today, connected to seatpost battery, stuck it down seat tube, works perfectly. It took five minutes max.
The app still wanted to update firmware on the new box so I turned it off. I guess I will update it but on PC so I can use the app without the worry of it crashing the system.
