Hi,

Now that the trails are drying out, I'm looking for a faster rolling front tyre with a bit of volume. It would be mounted to a flow mk 3 - in 26" guise.

I used to run a dhf 2.3 on the front, but I've got used to a baron 2.4 volume wise. Also I think the 2.3 might get too squared off on the wider rim.

Anyone used a dhr 2 2.4 wt as a front?

I' thinking that a shorty 2.5 wt will be overkill for the dryer months.

Looking for it to perform on Yorkshire Dales/ Ard Rock trails

Just fitted one a few week ago, done a few Lakes rides with it and it seems fine, a few pals also run one on the front.

Swapped my baron to a DHF yesterday (old 2.5 version). But with narrower rims.

My hightower Lt came with that tyre front and back in 3c maxterra guise. Absolutely brilliant tyre in every condition

Tried it, hated it. Found it washed out too much.

Much prefer the DHF up front.

I found the dhr2 3c Exo 2.3 would grip ok on the front  but then just wash out with no warning.

Ive swapped it for a 2.5wt Dhf 3c Exo and much prefer it. More predictable as it runs out of grip.

popped the dhr2 on the back and much prefer it there over the winter.

On what sort of surfaces was it washing out on?

I’ve been using s DHR 2 2.3 and 2.4wt on the front for the last 18+ months. Never had a washout and ride all over the Peak District, Wales, The Lakes, Shropshire and been to foreign lands too. I’ve always got on with it. Works well In most conditions and I’ve found it quite predictable matched with an Agressor

i found you do need to push the front in a little on the looser stuff to get it to bite. Maybe just suits my style of riding. I have however fitted a DHF 2.5 wt to the front this weekend to see what they are like. Friends feed back is good so will give it a whirl

I can't really decide tbh, it's faster than my 2.5 DHF and noticably less grippy but then if I think in terms of tyres of 5 years ago it sticks like spunk in the bath. I prefer it to the 2.3 DHF all round but I can't decide if it's worth the tradeoff of grip vs speed to the 2.5.

DHR2 is actually way grippier in certain situations/conditions than a DHF.
Try stoppying down the steepest section of Thornie on a DHF then try it on a DHR2 if you don't trust me.
Actually, don't be daft. I know fine you trust me.

I’m thinking I should have gone with a DHR2 2.4 instead of the DHF 2.5 - the latter certainly corners well and isn’t short of grip but it definitely doesn’t brake with the dropped anchor feeling of the DHR2 2.3

I've been using a DHR2 WT up front for the last 6 months or so (paired with an Aggressor on the back). I would agree that it brakes very well but on loamy or dusty corners it does let go quite suddenly. You have to get in the habit of really leaning over the front end and even then it goes... I think a trim on the wider centre knobs would help.

Yeah, it's suggestions like this that make me not trust you.
