My son is about to get his first DH bike and I need a bit of help with sizing as I'm more used to XC bikes, he is 5 ft 10" and 15 years old so just on the edge of the Medium or Large sizing. However most of his length comes from his legs rather than body length.

The question is, do we go for a medium or large? The geometry difference is about an inch in ETT and not much anywhere else, his worry about going to long is lack of manoeuvrability for the bike, my concerns is he might need a large size in 6 months time!

Any help welcome please!

Thanks, Iain.

Large . . I'd say he is on the border now anyhow, and as you say he'll grow and as soon as he is 6ft you want a large.

I'd go large too. It'll last longer and will feel more stable for DH.
