So after some help sourcing a Mech hanger for my Dartmoor Primal 27.5 (16-17 frame). Broke on a ride recently. I can't seem to get one in the UK. Does anyone have any ideas of where I could source one? Online, you can get one but its has two grub screw holes (29" frame version) were as mine only has one hole. First one I've broken in years, I am probably changing frames/bikes next year (40th birthday present to myself), but doing a lot of riding before then, so I should probably have a spare.
It broke the other night couple of miles into a ride (Shifting went funny prior, but just thought it needed adjusting, but no, as i looked the whole mech was swaying forward and back! So as I took the wheel of which appears to have been holding it all together, the hanger broke into and spat the bit out into the vegetation!. Luckily, I had a spare so it was quickly fixed.
BETD were always a good source for them, if you look here you've only(!) got 95 to wade through as Dartmoor aren't on the manufacturer filter. They 'probably' don't use a proprietary hanger as they are a reasonably small manufacturer.
J E James is quite good for a scroll through and visual match too.
I was going to suggest BETD too.
I believe that if you have one for them to copy they can also make you one if the search draws a blank, but I suspect that would be an expensive way of going about it.
I was recently thinking of posting on this topic, having dismantled an old Cannondale frame prior to scrapping it, such that I had two hangers going spare (the one in use and the spare). Is there a market for defunct hangers as the industry moves towards a standard (yeah, I know, stop laughing at the back).
So: a website, app, or STW sticky that collates people asking for/offering up hangers.
Available from the USA, along with many other makes, I had an old Carrera, needed a hanger, Hlafords/Carerra were no use at all, I found one exactly the same on that site, made by someone else, that was available here for little money:
Does it look like this? A few sources for that labelled as a D755 mech hanger
I'd not spotted that article a couple of weeks ago, but yeah, that holds some useful tips, and the range that website holds is awesome!
Slam 69 might be able to help. Pretty sure they were the UK importer for a while.
Thanks to all, I need to ring Slam69, don't think they're an importer any more and hardly have any stock left of Dartmoor on the website. It's a Pilo 1041D, but it's the two-hole one, it would at least get me out of an issue when out. I've asked a mate how much to make me (He works at a CNC place). If not, I'll just buy a new bike !
"UPDATE"
The PILO 1041D is different plus gearmech hanger website looked around and told me now one seems to have them plus Slam 69 have none left.
But my mate is busy for a few months so can't make one, but it so happens a friend of a friend lives in Poland (A roadie), so he is going to buy one for me, and it also just so happens another mate is visiting next month on holiday! So happy days.
