I'm at a bit of a loss....

GF had started new job and won't get holiday until October /November (but that's fine as we'll go either Finale or Tuscany and ride /look for a house).

Was going to take the van and meet up with a mate in his van and hit up a few bike parks (Fiss, Lenzerheide, Paganella), but matey has a new missus (with a kiddie and a dog) and she's not a biker chick.

I could take the van and hit up a few parks myself, but tbh, my index finger still isn't 100% after a big crash a few weeks back so throwing myself down the slopes probably isn't going to help it heal.

So I'm thinking of loading up the Bullitt with tent, sleeping bag, hammock, gas stove and going for a ride. My only problem is that I can't think of where to.

Thinking of riding over the alps to the
Adriatic to the east of Venice to chill at a nature reserve beach for a few days before heading back to Munich. ~450km each way. Can easily find a spot to camp on the way.

Other idea was head north of Munich until I hit the Danube and head towards Vienna. Again 450-500km each way, but guess the bike path is going to be busy and campsites full.

Luxury problem, I know.

No idea, but Paganella was where I first went to Alps on a school ski trip when I was about 12. Awesome place. Must go back if they have a bike park now

Up to the Danube and left instead? Into some hills.

Alternatively down the Isar to Grünwald and Bad Tölz, across to Gmünd am Tegernsee (stop for a swim). Schliersee, Bad Feilnbach, Chiemsee (ogle the nudists), Inzell, Bad Reichenhall, Berchtesgaden, up and back to Konigsee and Salzburg. Up the Salzach to the Inn and back to Munich. That should keep you out of trouble.

Tegernsee is usually very popular and over-crowded. Schliersee is nice as is Spintzingsee.  There's a nice campsite in Bad Felinbach about 3km from the town centre and lots of gravel tracks around Wendelstein

Get a train to Villach then ride back thru Hermagor,  the Osttirol via Lienzer Dolomiten and Hohe Tauern - that'd be an adventure!

Head up to the Fraenkische Schweiz and do the Pegnitz Pottenstein route, then over to the Ochsenkopf for some downhill action and then do the long distance route that links the two up...
Is t the Frankische geburgsweg or something.

(TBH your suggestions sound better)

Must go back if they have a bike park now

They have and it's brilliant... Pisses all over Leogang/Saalbach, Sölden and any other park within three hours of Munich.

I'm in and around Tegernsee and the other Bavarian lakes at least once a month. Lost count of the number of nights I've spent around there. And, as elshamino says, touristy. Especially now as it's full of other Germans having their holidays at home.
Although I was toying with the idea of the Bodensee-Königssee Radweg. I've already ridden half of our back on 2003.

I lived in Franconia/Franken for a year. They talk funny and their eyes are too close together for my liking (inbreeding?).

I'm liking the idea of chilling at a beach for a few days... And I've not been to Venice yet. Probably a good time to go as there aren't so many tourists... 😁. Going to the Adriatic does probably involve riding up Großglockner.... Will have to make sure the battery is charged and plan for a long lunch on the way up to fill both my belly and the battery... Back via Etsch Valley (past Lake Garda, Trento, Bozen) as the wind always blows north around midday....

Need to buy a tent.

Avoid the mountain pass and go via Felbertauernstraße /tunnel to Matrei, Lienz etc. What could possibly go wrong?

😎

Oi, my wife is a Franken! Maybe that explains a lot 🙂
