Need new brakes and wonder if it's worth spending slightly less and get Deore which have had good reviews or stick with original plan of buying SLX which I have used and like?

SLX.... just that bit better. more modulation and stopping power. used the new deores on the work bikes. they work, but my SLXs are better. i rate them over the XTs.

I like the M595s quite a bit, they're certainly comparable to my XTs.

i've got both, they're both great - it's [s]hard[/s] impossible to tell the difference in use.

both have lever / reach adjust.

if i was buying another set of brakes, i'd buy deore again with no hesitation.

I think the SLX have servo-wave, Deore don't - might be wrong on that. Certainly the Deores I've just fitted to Mrs NBTs bike are nice brakes

I love the m595 brakes, i have had two sets on bikes, i havent got any at the moment (different bike) but they would definitely be my first choice.

Yes SLX have servo wave, but it doesnt offer a great deal more power.
