Been a while since I visited, does anyone know what the trails are like after the recent heavy rain? Are the decent trails all hidden these days? Last time I went was about 5 years ago when I was gutted to see the DJ's by the 4x track had gone.

I'd give it a miss at the minute. Half of the forest (the side with the 4X track, No Brains etc) is closed due to logging operations. Apparently this is ongoing for a few more weeks yet. There's also work going on around the main lake which has meant closures in the last couple of weeks. This may be finished now though.

Sounds like primrose wood this weekend then. I hope the undergrowth has stated to die back a bit.

Still shut round by the lake on the main side.

Otherwise it's not actually "that" muddy

It's a mess..
Can't help feeling they got a bit carried away.. I appreciate it's a working Forrest, but it's ruined it imho.

We rode there last night, some great stuff in there - it's not big enough to get lost so you can just go look for it. Much drier than Delamere ATM and not too overgrown

Yep. In fact until a couple of weeks ago I had the KOM from the A556 to the masts. There's a couple of nice* sections of singletrack either side of the main Sandstone Trail path, so it's a decent little area of the forest in it's own right.

*Delamere nice - really muddy 6 months of the year, minimum.
