Looking to buy some degreaser for cleaning bearings prior to repacking, and the occasional drivechain deep clean. I've used WD-40'ss bike degreaser for a couple of years but it seems to be largely discontinued now.

Any recommendations for a good degreaser that copes with marine grease? Is car engine degreaser safe on paint/carbon?

My LBS recommended disc brake cleaner followed by some GT85/MO94 style stuff before repacking

I use GT85 to degrease my cassette and chain in seconds then a quick gentle sprinkle of water. Comes out gleaming.

Then I wash the rest of bike.

Remove pads and wheels if you can first.

I use the screwfix degreaser diluted on my drivetrain in a park chain cleaner and it comes up atreat so would highly recommend it for chains etc.

In motor trade I use brake cleaner. It eats oil, grease, evaporate quickly, quite expensive and flamable. I never used Alcohol ethoxylate (no nonsense heavy duty degreaser) cleaners, it is non volatile industrial cleaner. I'll give it a try when garage opens again.

+1 brake cleaner, got fed up faffing about with multiple applications of bike specific stuff.

Yup, brake cleaner is so useful.

I've recently started buying the hycote 600ml tins off ebay- they're way way cheaper than anything else I've used, partly because they're big cans and partly because they're just plain cheap. Also you get a pretty high nozzle pressure so there's a bit more blowing away of crap than you get with most.

Yep, Screwfix, cheap as chips and does the job perfectly-even when diluted

On another recommendation, I've been using Virosol here

It works a treat but wear gloves...
