Having had 3 maxxis exo tyres deform (2 DHR2 and 1 shorty), including one on its second ride, to the point where there is a 1" wobble to one side I'd given up on them.

Today I needed a tyre and was reduced to trying to refit the newer DHR2. On the drive, about to fit and daughter needs first aid so tyre left lying in the hot sun for about an hour. Returning to it the bead and casing had softened (a lot) so I had a go a massaging the bead a bit to see if it would shift in the casing and even out.

Mounted up and allowed to cool in the rim bed before inflating. Went up fine, added sealant, pumped to 40psi to seal, quick spin in the fork - no wobble, gone!

Happy me, will have to try with the other two now. Hopefully it will stay "fixed"!

I’ve fixed one before, it’s like threading a hidden belt through the waist and of a pair of shorts

Only ever had the problem with Maxxis tyres, which is why I tend to buy Schwalbe now.
