I have a bike bag that has been fine - the sort of design you used to see quite frequently, from Ultra Sport: https://www.google.com/search?q=neil+pryde+ike+bag&client=firefox-b&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiDxIHmgePeAhXObsAKHQaxAx0Q_AUIDigB&biw=1366&bih=654#imgrc=VammJLnINN5_mM:
It was too small to take my newer XL full susser away for my trip this year and I ended up taking the hardtail.
I am lucky to be able to have an offer of a new bike bag from Mrs G as a present for Christmas. What is the default bike bag option? The Evoc ones look very good, but I have seen some mixed reviews (particularly on build quality). The price difference is pretty substantial, as my simple bag was under £100 and the decent ones look to be £250+ from what I have seen.
I rented an Evoc earlier this year. Despite looking battered (cosmetically) it was a joy to use and I wouldn't hesitate buying one if I wanted my own bag. Not sure what the build quality issues are - I presume mine was 2-3 years old at least - zips, straps and other packing items and padding were fine. I presume they've been tweaked to fit XL 29er Endurosleds.
