to replace the Giant one on new Anthem...
after some musings on here, I thought I had ordered a reverb stealth through LBS, however they were sent wrong one, so before I press the button again...
Votes please 🙂
will be 125mm drop, right hand underneath lever version of one of them...
Transfer. Without doubt.
I've got one of each (125mm external reverb and 150mm stealth transfer), the transfer has a nicer action, I find it a lot easier to stop it part way through the travel than the reverb, the force ended to get it moving is much lower. I'm also using a wolftooth remote for the fox which has a much nicer action than the reverb button.
thanks, on the Fox one, how is the cable after a few manky winter rides ?
I would be going for a RHS 2x lever - I am on a 1x11 on that bike but left thumb is a bit arthritic, so right side lever works better for me 🙂
Have run a Transfer since December. 600km of off road winter riding. Everything still as it was on day 1. Impressed so far.
It's very well designed - I've not had a cable actuated post before, but the connecting bits are all in the bottom of the post, so away from the gunk.
Won't be going back to a Reverb I don't think.
thanks, looking like a Fox then, no one seems to have any negatives about it...
ehrob - which lever you got on yours ?
Ridden my transfer all winter in some truly awful conditions and haven't suffered any issues with the cable remote. Post is still solid and goes up and down as it did when it was new. I'm c.100kg as well so probably harder on posts than a lot. Reverbs seem to continually fail on me.
Gotama - very encouraging, thanks for the info. BTW, which lever have you got on it ?
Do any of you with Transfers have a slight bit of lateral play? A friend of mine is selling one and I'm considering it, however this has a bit of play when installed. Just wondering if it's normal?
Yeah mine has a tiny bit of play. Not noticeable when riding, and less than my reverbs used to have.
I run the 1x lever which goes under the bars on the left hand side. It's a lever, so doesn't exactly set my world alight, but it does make you realise that the reverb one is a bit crap. No issues at all with it.
great, I am 90% set on the Fox now 🙂
I just need nobeer to come along now and berate my indecision .... 😀
(pre-emptive mode//off...)
The Bontrager remote is compatible with a transfer post as is way cheaper (£18 vs £57), in case you do decide to get one and want to save £40!
I have the 1x under bar remote on the left side so I guess not directly comparable to the one you would buy.
Clearly not worth paying for kashima unless you like the look.
Fox Transfer here.
Mainly cos Mojo are super easy to deal with.
Only the ride so far.
Thanks all, will be going for the Fox.... the right side 2x/3x remotes are out of stock so will get a LHS under one initially.
I have a LHS, 1x mount on the RHS, mounted with cable exit on top. It works fine but I see that Bontrager do a compatible "2x" lever for a lot less than the Fox one. Triton have them in stock but want £10 for delivery of a small £15 part. They can suck my big one!
I'd rather pay a tenner than that option 😀
If the left one messes with my old decrepit thumb I'll swop it....
Having looked at the Bontrager one, it looks pretty similar to my Giant Contact one as well, and I have a spare one of those .....
Good post but the tiny grubscrew on the shift lever is piss poor. My mate Graham had a trauma with his on a road trip to NI. It is very easy to strip as he found out. The under bar lever is not as nice as the over bar one I use. It just feels a bit Friday at five o'clock in design.
Cheers Sanny, which overbar lever you using ?
first ride last night with the Fox Transfer so a quick update. I went with the 2x/3x lever setup on the right as I have arthritis in left thumb. The lever is really light, and I have actually ordered a left side 'light action' Wolftooth one to try.
The post setup is a doddle, the quality feels great and in operation it is, in my view, way ahead of the reverb that I have (a new one) on other bike. Light action, minimal rotational play, solid top out clunk, easily stopped at any height, and simple to vary the speed, with a barrel type adjusted at the remote.
Delighted with it 🙂
