on my ride home from work in the rain I went round a roundabout quite safely without falling off and hitting my head. think I wouldn't be writing this had I not had decent grippy tyres on my bike which stopped me from slipping over.

My flashing Exposure Strada had the same effect when i approached a mini roundabout at 20mph this evenong ready to cross and a car pulled out from the right. Fortunately I think I dazzled him and he slammed on the brakes. There was no way I could have stopped.

Personally I call BULLSH~IT!

If I've been riding a cheap bike to the shoppes : I never crash. If I'm riding some exotic 26.6333 / 29.222 niche stuff: I always crash on my face. And the brighter the light the bigger the smash.

The more expensive the bike/kit/flashy-thing the stronger the draw from roots/cars/dogs/meteors...

Thanks for the replies. I am now wondering though whether if I had less good tyres I might actually just get a few cuts and bruises rather than actually kill myself when I fell off.
