No proper riding for me at the moment due to a broken finger suffered at Kirroughtree but I'd still like to get out for some fireroad hacks around Swinley and a few laps of Virginia Water, so can anyone recommend some decent semi slick tyres that'd suit?

Does it really matter? Why not just use your normal tyres?!

Panaracer Mach SS are good if weight's not an issue, otherwise Schwalbe Furious Freds are amazing, I had one on the back for the Gorrick Enduro today and it was spot on. Not particularly robust though!

No it doesn't really matter but if it can make me go a bit faster because I don't need to have full knobbles on then why not...?
😉

If you want to make your bike faster definitely buy some Furious Freds, and at 295g per tyre you'll shed a whole chunk of weight too!

Bl**dy hell, nearly 40 notes a piece! I don't need them that badly as it's only going to be temporary until I get stuck back into the singletrack.

Might go for these: Conti Double Fighter II

I did say that was if weight mattered... I'd wager that some Ralphs or something would actually roll quicker than the Double Fighters, and be more use on proper trails.

you can get Fast freds for £12 each , they are a fantastic tyre.

Maxxis Wormdrives £13.99 on CRC, wirebead only though, they are narrow 1.90
roll well and grip ok. if you want something wider how about High roller semi-slick £18.99 for single ply Maxxpro 60a

from personal experience i wouldn't recommend the panaracer mach's,
multiple punctures experienced, found that small stones tore through the tyre,
and this was on the road!!!!!
basically my friend had 7 punctures whilst touring, all on road and in the end binned them as they had become a completele liability.

just my tuppence's worth!

id stick to something like the ralphs, more useable tyre in the long run

I was going to mention something like Maxxis Crossmarks, but thought they might be too lumpy for what you want them for. Should be half the price of swalbes for the folding ones or about a third for the wire ones?
