The nephews 2 year old Marin rock springs hardtail wheels are on the way out. (Cup/cone) Bearings are rough and the freehub has a oboe (so I’m guessing those bearings shot too - I don’t have a cassette tool with me to remove the cassette). Rest of the bike is still good - basic RS fork, Deore 1x10 and basic shimano disc brakes.

It’s QR front and rear so not worth spending too much as they won’t get transferred to any future upgrade bike. Where is the best value buy - superstar?

Assuming we are talking non boost I'd be looking second hand. Should be able to get something nice for less that way.

For value I wouldn't buy new. All my wheels I have bought so far have been used and I haven't been dissapointed yet and have had a few bargains.

I have been having this issue if late and settled on brand x teail wheels from crc.

Sealed bearings, tubeless ready and £120 delivered.

However you need to source the end caps.

Cup & cone set ups are pretty resilient and may just need to service the existing hubs, either yourself or at a shop (probably ~£20/wheel).
