This month has been an expensive one what with a new bike and all the related bits, I've realised I'm in need of a couple of MTB jerseys as I don't actually have any at the moment.

Anyone seen any deals for super cheap short or 3/4 sleeve jerseys about? Has anyone bought the aldi ones?

Ta 🙂

Do you need an "MTB jersey"? If not, a technical t-shirt from the likes of Decathlon can be had for £5 ish, perhaps nearer £10 if you want a zip on the front. They more than do the job for me.

Use the light Decathlon cycling tops (zipped pockets) on their own in  summer and with their  long sleeve tops the rest of the year.

It's been just as good as more expensive stuff I've owned.

Stuck with Gore for waterproofs and Pearl Izumi for shorts so far, but might give them a go next time.

Decathlon, and don't just stick to the cycling aisle, check running, fitness, football etc, their kit is fantastic and cheap as chips.

Cheers - that's exactly the sort of thing I'm after, doesn't have to be MTB or cycling specific, just something that is long enough in the back (I'm 6ft 3in and slim, 13st) and which won't hold on to the massive amounts of sweat I'll be producing...

Will have a browse on the decathlon site, looks like there's a few options there.

I go to the local TK Maxx and look in the fitness section, sports short sleeve tops are around £8ish, I've done this several times. If I have a local Decathlon Id do as the others mention.

I've got one of these; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mens-TriDri-Panelled-Tech-T-Shirt-Ultra-Cool-Fitness-Gym-Running-Leisure-Top/162542501500?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=461546622775&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

I really like it. I'm 6'2/17st and an XL fits well, not massively long but I never find it too short.

I've not done the 5 Polaris for £40.

However we do have half a dozen Polaris tops between us. All a very well made and cut, more than the price tag suggests and easily good as Endura / Altura / Madison that we also have.

Sombrio, you can get the three quarter jerseys at the moment for under £20.00, there on offer at the moment a few different shops, CRC being one of them (I actually bought a couple from a LBS… James Cycles) they’ve got a sale rail with loads of tops atm. Think I paid £17.00 a piece for 2 Sombrio jerseys, nice quality too, can’t go wrong for that price!

Mr. Posty delivered earlier today .... one for me £15 and one for Jnr £12.50.  Both long sleeved as these are useful for sticking over elbow pads..

Very nice quality but small fit... Jnr is 8 and the age 10 is a good fit (was expecting it to be a over-top for a while but fit is quite tight) and my large is snug compared to Troy Lee

I've always liked the Endura Humvee - hard wearing, decent value and cool in the summer. £23 at Wiggle count as cheap?

Every time I see a fox technical t shirt on offer for £20 or less I buy them. Great for mtb as a loose fit and dries out quickly.

Alternatively for a tighter / more xc or road fit Tredz have Altura airstream tips for about £12 at the moment. I filled my boots on those last week as they are pretty good. Come up on the small side though - I’m about a 38” chest and not fat but not skinny either - had to go for a large. Fox t shirts I bought are in a medium and are a little baggy.

+1 for Polaris. It's worth subscribing to the mailing list for sales but the prices are up and down like crazy.  You get to know how cheap certain things will actually become after a while. It drives you mad but the kit is good.
