Hello,

Any recommendations for decent MTB tops brands that don't make a 45 year old look like a teenage motorcross biker ?!

Cheers

I like my Morvelo one. It’s more subtle than the likes of Fox, Troy Lee, Dakine etc. I also Poc and Mons Royal but can’t stomach the prices.

In my sixtieth year here and wear what ever is in the draws, t shirt, sweatshirt, shorts, prob all howies - oK on the odd event, I will wear an light armoured T shirt and Royal long sleeve shirt where the logo is almost same colour as top with Endura plain black shorts.

Road or MTB?

I'm less bothered about most MTB stuff TBH....plenty of understated plain with small logos.

At the moment (in Jess from Fastshow style) I'm mainly wearing cargo shorts and t-shirts
Earlier in the year when it was colder I went through a phase of stretchy gap jeans and fleece tops...for casual riding. It's lot of fun riding the XC HT then chasing down some under 50 in a flashy kit riding an Enduro bike on the downhills... YET if you want to take it easy you can and noone looks twice at the old fart in casual kit!

One of my younger mates/mechanic said I was evil!!!

I'm older than you and happily dress like a teenage motocrosser.

But when I want to be more subtle I wear stuff from Mavic, Madison & Dakine.

Mrs Slow has a couple of Tenn Outdoors tops which are understated but quite nice, unlike her Troy Lee shorts!! I don't think the Tenn tops are available anymore though you may find some on Ebay.

Never wear roadie kit, just not keen. Nearly every body seems to be on the TdF. For me it’s cargo or mtb shorts, t shirt and Endura mtb top if needed.. I even ride my road bike in spds. Only flats on MTBs now, so second life for the spd kit.

45 and you cant even buy you own clothes......😉

Go on a website that sells bike stuff, browse tops, if there's one you like, buy it. **** what other people think.

Or just wear any outdoor tech top, they're all the same really!

Nike Dryfit or things you can get For climbing in outdoor shops like Salamon or Rab fit / work for me.

Check out the newish gravel type clothing (can be a bit costly as it's fashionable, apparently) but can be found in some sales), it's the same type of material as mountain bike and outdoor clothing only in more subtle colours and less baggy but loose enough to feel good on the bike.

I like 7 mesh but you need to remortgage the house to own it but it is very well made.

Baselayers are my go to these days, as I can use them for biking, running or hillwalking.

Still squeezing into my retro Singletrack tops ( has my belly grown that much ?) . Its make me look like a jellyfish in a stocking, but still hanging in there ( 50 next month !!) Still look very respectable and not like a kiddie on a crosser.

For road the Lidl Crivit stuff is as good as any, and seems to be designed for a slight middle aged belly.

Off road, been impressed with subtler chinese fox knock-offs on ebay. Takes 2 weeks to get here and you need a size larger, but the quailty is good and costs under 15 notes.

I'm with no beer, I haven't bought a jersey in about 20 years. I mainly wear base layers from various companies which get used all year round. My current favourite is the merino mix I got from Polaris when it was in the sale.
Ps I am a tight Yorkshire man so still wear 20 yr old jersey as well.

The decathlon stuffs good for the money. I just use their plain tech tshirts about a fiver each.

Im as tight as a sparrows chuff these days.

These cant be bad for 7 notes. Look ok? rear pocket.
