I've just ordered a set of ST 500 MTB Bibs from Decathlon to try as they're going cheap (£15), I will probably be using them more on Road than off, so are there any actual differences i.e. padding or cut specific to the MTB version, that would make them wholey in appropriate for use on a road bike?
Nothing imediately jumps out looking at them online...
As with saddles, pads can be road or MTB specific. It's such a personal comfort thing though so what works for some doesn't work for others.
Probably very similar. I use road bibs under my baggy shorts in cold weather
Well I normally Use Road Bibs for everything, I was wondering more what (if anything) might be different for a pair labelled as being for MTBing...
I'll see how I get on with them, they're only cheap so if they don't work out it's no real biggie...
I always presumed the pad was in a slightly different spot to compensate for leaning forward into the drops as opposed to sitting more upright for MTB.
I tend to only use road bibs anyway, and haven't noticed them being excrutiating, so quite possibly they're identical.
Use road bibs for everything. Can't tell the difference.
I have both the Decathlon BTwin road shorts and the xc shorts (the 700/900 series). They look identical, same pad etc when not on the bike, but it seems that the XC shorts are slightly shorter in the leg.
That said I ride either on MTB or road and there is no difference comfort wise.
