Great result for Gilbert there, good to see him back to winning ways. Following the live feed on cyclingnews and thought he'd blown it when he solo'd over to the leading group then it all came back together.

Increasingly excited about the Ardennes classics now. Can they possibly top Roubaix and Flanders?

Absolutely, I'd like to see him party like it's 2011 again 🙂

I quite fancy Gilbert to repeat his finish from the 2012 World Champs and win on the Cauberg again, for this weekend's Amstel Gold Race.

I live about 20km from the Cauberg (I was actually at the finish of the 2012 World Champs - brilliant day!) and have ridden it a few times. How the hell Gilbert attack like that, I don't know. I couldn't attack a snail on that climb!

There was a great piece in Pro Cycling about that world champs made up from quotes from the other riders in the bunch. I think it was JTL who said when Gilbert went it was like a bomb going off!
