After mangling my rear mech last weekend it initially appeared to be a simple case of new chain and jockey wheels. Alas, fitting my mech this morning I have noticed the bracket axle unit to be bent too. How much do you think a replacement Shimano saint bracket axle unit costs? My chin hit the floor. An extortionate THIRTY FIVE POUNDS! That's over a third of the cost of a new mech for something that's less than an eighth of the entire unit.

Speechless. Should have just bought a new mech.

🙁

All I'm hearing is "new Shimano rear mechs are a bargain"

I'd buy one anyway. Plus you now have some spare jockey wheels.

....please tell me you didn't actually pay £35 for the axle unit?

Crc do full mech for £78, think I'd be getting a new mech and keeping the old one for spares.

Shimano is cheaper...

Shimano XTR M9000 11 speed RRP £190

But I jest as yeah you're looking at sale price. To be fair, X01 RRP is £210 but usually discounted to £180. Sure Shimano is cheaper, but in this price range they're all expensive, which makes £35 not so bad.

Alternatively, forget the bling and go XT M8000 Shimano or GX SRAM. Still does the same job as their bling counterparts but at a fraction of the price. If it was bent mech and £35 repair, just bin and spend £50/£60 on a new mech.

24 euros yesterday for a pair of Magura Julie brake pads as the backing came off and we were desperate to get riding again!

Bought another pair off eBay today for 10 pence plus postage of 1.50.

Oh and the brake pads actually cost me €550 as I went back and bought a new bike for my missus as a surprise birthday present.

A Cannondale speed 5.

£1.90 for a plate of chips yesterday at well known Welsh riding centre.
They came on a saucer and there was no risk of any falling off.
