Will be riding out of Okehampton for a week at the start of October and its been around ten years since I was last there. To be honest I think I missed most of the good trails last time so any tips of where to ride would be really appreciated. Thanks
ask sponging machine off of here to send you a route we did today.
about 3hrs around 30k and loads of lurvely singletrack and some fun descents not too far from okey.
alternatively mail me or him closer to the time and we'll gladly show you around.
IMHO the better bits on Dartmoor are not in & around Oke - soz - unless you like northshore stuff which are in [url=
Woods[/b][/url].
Get yourself down to Princetown & ride down to Burrator & back. Trailmonkey off here guided the MBR guys recently on a selection of routes starting at Princetown, you may need to dig out the edition with them in.
There is also great riding round Lustleigh Cleave but you may need to have a local to show you where the best bits are, post up on here asking for a local guide for the day or advice on a route.
Contact the guys at BikeDartmoor. Top blokes.
ye agree with crispy,
our route today was around lustleigh/hound tor hameldown/ soussons/hunters tor/ north bovey/ jays grave (not in that order though!!!)
not much good xc stuff that i know of up okey
You're welcome to join a night ride one evening that week if you fancy that.
cheers for all your help guys will be in touch nearer the time
As Carl said, let me know your email address and I'll send you the gpx of our ride yesterday. I enjoyed it a great deal. We started at a car park about 20-30mins from Okehampton.
all sound advice so far. best of the riding is probably in the east with the burrator sector offering something totally different but still highly entertaining. the vertebrae graphics qed book offers some routes close to okehampton and i quite enjoyed them when i tried them, so that might be worth purchasing. issue 49 of ST has all of the eastern side mapped out with a choice of 3 routes,i'd say that's a must.
