has anyone got a hornet?

I`m quite interested in the hornet and partly as the geo looks bang on. (longer than my current but similar bb height etc and partly due to it being cheap.

i`m a bit worried it might be a bit too harsh though (those ali seatstays are mighty) for the odd bit of peddaling about on the south downs? has anyone got one?

Any alternatives i should consider? i dont fancy remorgaging to get a frame though (bird zero/PP OKA).

on ones appear silly short. my old dialled had a horribly high bb. commencals look a bit funny on paper NS eccentric not quite long enough but nearly...

is it me or are there less nice HT`s than there used to be?

cheers,

Mark

Hi

Got one I use a second bike.

I really like it. mine runs 26 wheels and 140 revs and it's great fun. Really easy to throw around and still good for long pedals.

I sometimes ride to work which is a 14 mile each way ride over the downs. Handles the up fine but it's great fun in the down.

Haven't really got a bad word to say about it.

Bird had a mark 1 zero for sale that they had discovered laying about. Might be worth contacting them for more info if your interested.

Mark, I think that's the variety of Dartmoor that John F has.

Got one, great bike with the newer ones having 12x142 rear axle size. It's a hard tail, it's going to be harsh. Can't tell the difference between my hornet and my bro in laws bird am.

I bought one end of last year.
It's awesome, lighter than steel HTs I've owned, no harsher but then I came from an over built Ragley Piglet...steel HTs with narrower tubes have ridden better IMO but not by much.
For the price it's unbeatable, mine runs a 140mm Revelation and simple 1x10 shimano drivetrain on 26 inch wheels (even though it can run 650b) as I like the mud clearance.
I use it all year round but primarily as a winter bike, it does everything from uplift days at BPW, Antur etc to spending a whole day exploring Brechfa forest or Nant Yr Arian.
I can happily recommend it to other riders although I am interested in the On One Dee Dar so a change could be on the cards this year but then HT frames are so cheap these days it would be rude not to try as many as possible!

VH, as chief says I've got one which you're welcome to try. It's a medium. PM me on slack or drop me a text if you want a spin.
