Ola Guys and Girls, wondered if anyone could tell me what sort of state Dartmoor is in at the moment? I have a couple of days off from tomorrow and will be staying in the Exeter area. There are a couple of MBUK routes I'd like to try, one around Hound Tor and a shorter one near Princetown. However if it's all just one big boggy mess I might just go to Haldon for a morning instead. TIA.

Boggy mess....

And the weather is horrible too. Rain, wind, sun, hail, even snow on the tops.

It would be a memorable ride...

There was a light dusting of snow in Princetown this morning but it was all melted by 10am.
Its very wet but the Burrator/Princetown loop holds up well, just watch out for the boggy wheel traps at South Hessary Tor!

Much of Haldon is shut for logging.

Dartmoor is seriously wet at the moment. Princetown ride may be OK but the route out past South Hessary will be a bog fest in two or three places. From there down to Burrator and back up the railway should be OK though.

The Hound Tor area is likely to be pretty wet and cut up.

EDIT - too slow! I should clarify - Haldon Ridge trail (red) is open plus the flat loop (blue?) but the rest is shut.

Great kayaking weather, haven't touched the bike in months.

Thanks all. Thought that might be the case. For some reason I've never got on with the Haldon red route, so if much of the blue is closed I'll give it a miss. Will give the Princetown route a go.

Boats? Erm, don't think so 🙂
