Damnit, wrong shifter...

In my spares box I have two old Deore shifters with 3x9 written on the bag a few years ago, by my own fair hand.
I bought new 9sp Mezzo shifter and cassette on the cheap deal, Shimano mountain compatible.
I've just spent the morning bolting it all on with new cables and everything. Including old school slide on grips.
Came to adjust the shifting and it's not playing nicely at all.
Why?
It's an SH-M610, 10 speed shifter.

Gaaaaaaaah.
(Anyone got a Deore l/h 9sp?)

I R confused.

Which bits do you need again?

I’ve got XT rear mech, L & R XT 3x9 shifters, 11-32 9spd cassette, all barely used going if you that would help?

Sorry, it's RH 9sp I need. Happy to pay!

I bought Mezzo derailleur, cassette and chain.

I clearly typed all that while cuppa in hand and frustrated!

Can empathise.
A few months ago I fitted a 10 speed cassette to a 9speed setup.
Could not figure it out.
Until I did.

I opened this expecting a follow up to the Japanese toilet thread. Curse my dyslexia
