Having bought the Transition Smuggler Carbon last week (which I will not get to see for at least another month until I can get back to the UK), and then upgraded almost all of the fitted parts (groupset, brakes, wheels, bars etc etc), I was faced with the choice of selling all of the components, or putting them together on a new bike and then either having it as a N+1, or selling it on... man maths came to the fore once again, and after some more interweb trawling, this is going to be my second new build (well actually third after my road bike, but we don't talk about that here):-
Niner Air 9 frame
Rockshox Reba SL 130mm forks (yes i know that the Air 9 is for forks up to 120mm, but with a little bit of extra sag, it should be fine)
Full Sram NX Groupset (from the Transition)
Sram Level T brakes (from the Transition)
180/160mm Sram rotors
WTB STi25 wheels with Novatec hubs (from the Transition)
Maxxis Ikon 2.2 3C skinwall tyres
Brand X dropper
Saddle - to be decided
Stem - to be decided
Raceface Chester 35 bars (from the Transition)
Shimano trail SPD pedals
Should be lovely little aggressive XC flyer... but then again, so will the Smuggler (complete with Pike Ultimates, Bontrager carbon wheels, G2 RSC brakes, full GX groupset etc etc).
