You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
hi , nothing too serious but I have a couple of dings on my rear rim and also a bent spoke .
Can I just bend the rim out a little with pliers? Doesn't seem to be a problem for tubeless inflation but now have two in roughly the same spot? Coincidence?
Also, the spoke... Should I just tighten it a little? Replace? Is it a sign of weakness somewhere else on the wheel?
Thanks all!

Tis but a flesh wound.
If that was mine I'd straighten it when I had the time. I'd only tighten the spoke if the wheel needed truing, even with a kink it's still exerting force.
Some people are more precious than me though.
Thanks for the reply . The spoke is quite loose too
I'd probably replace a spoke that's that kinked. Ideally you want all of the spokes taking some load rather than others compensating for a loose one, but if you've flattened a part of the rim that might be tricky.
The ding is probably fine, but if you use a tool to straighten it, bear in mind you won't get it perfect, and protect the surface of the rim with something like a rag or some rubber.
I wouldn't bother straightening the ding if the tyre still seats properly, there's a chance it'll crack when you try and straighten it and it won't make it any stronger.
