I'd considered battering round it in a day on the CX bike but I've done zero long distance riding since my LEJOG back in early September and I've got other plans at the weekend now anyway.

Good luck though!

@crazy-legs Quite doable on a CX I'd have thought as there's nothing too technical terrain wise and what there is is only short.

About time you got some gears Ben!

Emma Osenton was the only finisher on a CX on the YD300 I think. The 200 isn't quite as tough though it does a couple of the same sections: Great Wold and Stockdale Lane. About 50% of the route is on road so a CX would make up loads of time there.

Maybe one of the hybrid type bikes, basically a CX bike but with flat bars might be ideal for that type of route.

Geared rides so far have felt ever such hard work though!

I'm in. No idea what I am in for. Not sure even about that far in 2 days. Not able to think about gear til late Fri night (as I'm not about). Route passes my house. No I mean passes right past my house, on one of our bridleways so would be tempting to bend the rules.

Will be on a Scalpel because that's all I have. My mate is doing it and at least that means I'm not the oldest.

did the route a couple of weeks ago as couldn't do the event but wanted a long dales ride.

Used a rigid niner emd with 2" tyres. Bike was suited to most of the terrain.

A cx would really be faster on a lot of the route but I reckon you'd feel pretty battered none the less.

I don't think I can mount any gear on my bike so will probably need to carry it all on my back.

To be honest I haven't a clue what I am doing!

@ChrisE I seem to remember you mentioning your location when discussing the YD300 earlier this year. If it's where I think it is then it's only 50Km in to the route and at least there's a good cafe just over the hill 😆

On the 300 there were points where I knew the route made a loop and if I turned the opposite way to the intended direction then in a Km or so I'd meet it again having avoided maybe ten kilometres of the route. I didn't have to pass my house though.

The route also passes right past my dads house, my sisters house, and crucially my mum-in-laws house is in Dentdale 150m off the bridleway over Whernside to Ribblehead. Much more likely though are the many, many barns en route that are full of straw now at this time of year - if you know where they are!

I don't have a facility to strap anything to my bike so guess it will all be on my back. There is food at Settle, Feizor, Ribblehead tea van, Barbon Inn, Station Inn Ribblehead, Horton in Rib café (poor) and pubs, Helwith Bridge Inn, Queens Litton, loads at Grassington, Angel at Hetton for all the rich-southerners, so hope to survive

Done the 300 but can't make the 200. I used a 29er with very summer tyres pumped to a million psi and it worked for me. No way would I choose a cross bike. I've done the 3 peaks and I can't imagine 200k or 300k of that.

Planning on being there rich.

Will be on tinbred, rigid forks, jones loops, 35mm rims with a 3 inch front tyre. We ride together for a bit of the 300

Will be very strange tomorrow going to Skipton. My bike only ever goes in the car once a year and that's to go to the airport.

@posterity, ll200 scares me. We have the yd200 route as an option if we get the wobbles.....I'm wobbling now.

Good luck at the weekend, the weather looks perfect

Bag packed. Under 8kg but decided to change sleepbag so now under 7kg. Ready for tomorrow

How many people are going and how many like me just want to get round the route?

Stopped at Ribblehead on the way back from some riding in Swaledale, saw ChrisE go through along with five others in a period of about half an hour, this was at around 1600. Weather is dry, cool and very mirky.

From Stuart's post on Twitter it looks like everyone got round (despite one <ahem> very interesting</ahem> off-piste option), so well done to them all. Half a dozen riders went for the non-stop option with everyone else taking a more leisurely post.

Rich: I was the guy waiting for his wife to finish, she's rather tired and has gone to bed :P.
