So another Lakes route advise thread here .
Off up to Keswick to avoid nobody (sigh) in a fortnight and the obligatory Barrowdale bash seems to be the general consensus with the number of the riders that Borris says I can intermingle with this week ....
Advise please is more a choice please . From the Slate mine at Honister its it worth either ... Dale head and maiden more and drop to the rear of Catbells Or Up from the mine towards Fletwick pike and drop Warnscale bottom and return via Rigg beck ..
cheers as always
Option 2 IMHO, assuming trail quality is more important than views to you.
Both brilliant, but No 2 makes it a proper full day out and does Warnscale (always a winner).
I must admit trying to route sort for the masses is a paint in the arse, for me if I was on my own id be happy to shoulder the carbon handbag up Dalehead and take my time but as Warnscale was high on a couples list perhaps the group might enjoy the rattle session.
If you’re full of energy after rigg beck you could always head up the mine track from little town to dale head tarn (bit of a slog/carry up the path by the waterfalls above castle nook, then finish the day over high spy and maiden moor. Dale head itself doesn’t really add much imo.
Its like trying to heard cats sometimes .. "lets do the bash and then Ullock " the question was this morning, Eyes bigger than bellies springs to mind for some of them 🙂
Up the ante by suggesting adding the tour of Great Gable on from Honister.
