Hey everyone,

I'm going to Dalby forest on Saturday with some friends and my other half. Got a few questions for the riders who have been before....

My group has a variety of riders skill level and bike types, is there enough nice XC stuff to keep them happy whilst me and my friend tackle the harder stuff?

Also, what would you recommend taking in terms of armour, will shin/elbow pads and a full face helmet be overkill?

yea u dont need fullface for dalby its more of an xc route with bits of black sections on the way, theres nothing big at dalby they have a nice 4x course and a bit of a play area etc but nothing special, just do the red run and ull love it, see if you can do it in 2 and a half hours like me ;p

Cool that sounds ideal, if some people don't fancy it then they can walk any tough sections. I'll probably stick with a normal helmet and some pads then.

All fairly gentle, flowing stuff at Dalby, nothing heavy duty on the red loop. Good ride, and surprisingly knackering.

Great stuff, is it quite easy to navigate then or am i best taking a map? I have a habit of getting lost 🙂

No need for a map. It's all very well sign posted. You'll be given a basic map at the entrance (at least I was last time I went). The more exciting stuff can be walked if people don't fancy it.

I haven't been for years and really miss it. Would love to have a blast on the World Cup XC stuff!

EDIT: I've never used pads and ridden both the red route and bits of the black route. I think if you're really going for it on some of the downs then pads might inspire a bit of confidence.

It's quite long, so consider fitness levels within a mixed group. It would probably be an idea to have a route map, just incase one or two people run out of steam and need to find their way back to the car on the road/forest roads.

they dont give you a bike trail map at the entrance anymore..

overheard the woman on the gate telling the car in front they would have to stop off at the visitors centre and get one if they needed one..
