Thought might be useful to post on here that there is a rally coming to Dalbeattie on the 22 July and looks like there will be closures on the forest roads. The message from the organisers is:
I am writing to advise you that RSAC Motorsport Limited has received agreement from Forestry and Land Scotland to use some of the roads in Dalbeattie Forest as a special stage in the RSAC Scottish Rally on Saturday 22 July 2023. The stage will be run twice: once in the early afternoon and once in the late afternoon, and an Exemption Order under Section 11(1) of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 will apply from 00.01 hours until 23.00 hours on Saturday 22 July.
We are conscious of the fact that the forest is a popular cycling venue, and we seek your help in bringing details of the event to potential users of the forest, so that they are not disappointed if they attempt to use Dalbeattie Forest that day and are turned away. Access roads and paths will be taped and blocked off, and marshals will be positioned to ensure the safety of cyclists as well as rally competitors, officials and spectators.
It doesn't say for definite where will be taped off but there has been a lot of work in the last few weeks with skimming and relaying the roads around tinkers loaning and down to cloak loch and iron hash hill so guessing the rally will be going down the eastern side of the forest. A lot of the 7 stanes route round that side is still diverted onto forest roads so the rally will probably limit what is possible to ride that day.
Think that weekend might be the first of English school holidays too so may be more people than usual looking to ride the trails.
