You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I can't walk again so I'll be pulling out. Nothing to do with my Glenmorangie stock depletion or chrimbo sexual activities. Just a weird thing I got going on with my tendons. Hopefully 😯 Have a sloppy one peeps.
Crap news Swede ;-(
And the bad news is that I have clearance from Mission Contol to attend tomorrows likely slop-fest. I do have mild some man-flu, so I might still wimp out, but I'm just off to the garage to pump me tyres up.....
🙂
Peter I've got manflu and I'm leading! No excuses 😉
Thanks for organising this BTW chaps. nice to have a change of scenery now and again . look forward to it
Cheers Don, it's not all bad though. I have been able to not wash and drink every day for two weeks 😀
Woohooooooo uber niche on my overkill 5" full suss wih a full compliment of gears. Setting off nice and early in the morning. By the looks of the weather forecast i may be in for quite a journey
What snow tyres for the M6 toll?
you're using the m6 toll you'll need special tyres as you'll be going the wrong way pal! M6 to M5 is what you need!
Now, I realise that anticipation and excitement level are at fever pitch already, but I feel that I should tell you that I am preparing possibly the greatest ride snack ever. It's an old favourite, but with a seasonal twist 🙂
On more sober news, the weather looks funking awful...
Skins waterproof IHN! It'll be worth it for the snack alone! That reminds me I'm off to make some cookies 😉
Er, you know I said I know the route? I've just looked on the map and I'm not sure I do. Well, not the middle bit anyway.
No worries about that bit 😉

uh-oh are fantastic snacks standard? I have gone for 2 bags of xmas toffee, 4 cans of stella* and some glucose tabs....
*ok maybe not 4
OK, can't bring the HT as the cranks are ****ed. So 5in FS it is 🙁 My first ride on a rigid bike with cx tyres shouldn't be in front of other people 🙂
My cake making abilities are limited at best, but I will bring sloe gin. My car is a shed so not too concerned about binning it on the way up from Salisbury.
OK, bike sorted (Broken spoke and new pads FFS!!), kit ready.
I've heard there may be some snow about? Any chance of a local weather report before 8.30am? I don't mind riding in shyte weather, but I'd rather not bin the car or set out and have to turn back....... 😕
Pretty Please? 😀
I'm not close enough to give a weather report from up there in the hills but happy enough to give one from here. Or if you want to phone me thats fine too, email me for me number!
Cookies made, Tangfastics packed and the Glenlivet 15yr old French cask poured into the hipflask which is now sat on the bike so I don't forget it.
Oh and I'm working on the route with some cut outs just in case it gets bad up there with all the Cotswold dust about 😉
PeterPoddy,
Local weather report is all roads round the area are snow free at the moment, the ealier stuff has melted and it's raining now, so tempertaure is above zero. Met office forecast for tomorrow is +3 and rain. You should be OK on travel to Kilkenny.
The ground round here is saturated at best, suggest mud tyres and prepare for a messy ride, I've no idea of the route but dry dusty trails are most unlikely.
I'll post an update tomorrow morning.
Cheers Peter, it'll probably be OK in the morning I reckon then. 🙂
Bike already mud-prepared 🙂
New christmas hip flask filled. Check
Cameback stocked with Haribo. Check
Bike stripped ready to go in the boot. Check
Route from manchester planned. Check
Early morning alarm set. Check
I just know I'm going to get down there and have forgotten my front wheel, or something equally stupid
Weather Update.

Just about to get on the weetabix and get the bike ready!
Are we all still alive after today's slush-fest?
😉
did two hours and that was enough, not much fun thrashing through slush and mud after a while.
Are we all still alive after today's slush-fest?
Yup.
Cheers all for showing, seventeen is a fine turnout. We must do it again in the, what's the word? Oh yeah. Summer
Cheers, all for the ride.
I may have had the longest and most pleasurable bath in history today so its all good.
Great adventure out in the Cotswolds today - I love a good ride where you brave the elements - makes you feel alive!!!
Anyone for the same tomorrow??? 😉
cheers Si & Don , good turn out for a snowmudslush fest 😀
Si did the caffeine gel finally kick in ?
Photos are up! There's a new thread just incase 🙂
great ride thanks all.
STW Cotswold Massiv.
Thanks for letting me tag along, excellent ride and good to meet some other people who will go out no matter what the weather is doing.
Sheldon, thanks for route planning, hope I can join you all again some time.
Cheers again all
I think one word best describes todays ride for me... Slippery! I don't think I've ever had a situation where the bike is pointing in a different direction to the way its travelling so many times in one ride before today. Whether that was on the snow, the ice or just in the mud! I must've saved a dozen spills today by managing to dab in time, including one before we'd even left the carpark!
Anyone for the same tomorrow???
LOL. Fun as that was, I think you might be on your own for the repeat performance! 😉
Mboy - seem to remeber you not saving that one in the car park!
Cake of the day award contenders - Brian for his fantastic mincer pies, Si for his choco orange jackflaps and Sheldon for his rough n ready round things!
Posted on the photo thread but thanks again Si & Don and nice to meet a few new faces [and a few old ones!]. Thoroughly enjoyable ride in ahem, testing conditions... 8)

Foot down, momentum lost, but I managed to stay upright just!
Good to see some old faces again guys, you know who you are! 😉
