All my D30 stuff gets a black dirty looking appearance over time.

I don't stick them in the washing machine or anything but anyone found a way to clean them?

Anyone ? Or even tried and failed.
I don't want to use aggressive and untested cleaners and potentially damage.

My sailing kneepads are D3O and like everything else in my kit bag afterwards smell disgusting.

They go in the wash with everything else and still seem to do their job. One of them did eventually crack where the kneecap has a wing that wraps round the outside. But then sailing is much tougher on them than cycling*, they're frozen solid half the year by the cold water so more brittle, and get smashed on the deck hardware every tack.

*I briefly tried to make a pair of 661 pads do double duty, they lasted a month before having to be binned.

the actual D30 or the pads in general?

not seen an issue with my endura knee pads in the non removable orange pad, but as I cant machine wash them, they get an overnight soak in soapy water once they start to smell funky.

I tend to wear trousers when its miserable out, keeps the mud off them and need less cleaning.

I'm sure after week in 35 degree morzine in 2019 they were getting close to being able to pedal by themselves

Yeah, it won't wash/scrub off with soap and its on the removeable ones on my Fox kneepads and the 661 flexible body armour. Not saying it is mould but its kinda like when you remove black mould you can't remove the black stain.

I just soaked one in soapy water for 2hrs (started off warm) and nothing came off... its especially dark around areas that touch ... but its not on my LEATT D3O alike (whatever they call it)

I got all sorts I could try cleaning with but just a bit nervous of wrecking the D3O...
bleach, hydrogen peroxide, bike cleaner???
