Going back to Cyprus in may for a family wedding (my fault for being married to a (half) Cypriot girl...). Staying in Larnaca and will have a car so it'll be a good excuse to get away from the legions of her family..!!

I know the Troodos mountains aren't that far away but they're a fairly big area so just wondered if there was any more specific knowledge of where is good to ride?

take map and compass and just go ride i spent 6 months doing just that and never a dull days riding. It was like riding through a mountainous fly tip mind.

Starting at the visitor centre near the top of olympus was a particular favourite.

I was there for a wedding this year and hired a bike or two from the main guy who advertises on the web.

If you are taking your own bike then there is a nice circular hiking trail round Mt Olympus which headsxoff from near the car park.

We stayed in the biggish village below mt Olympus at a cracking B&B if you fancy staying up there.

There is a waterfall walk just above the village, if you can start from the top of this and headaway below the presidents palace then there is a lovely contouring path heads out and back round to the car park at the bottom of the waterfall walk.

We just used the crappy os type walking map from the tourist info in the village.

If you need more info then just let me know and I'll find out which hotel in which village!

My parents live in Pafos and have been a few times riding now. to some it up, the Akamas riding tends to be a lot of wide dust trails, plenty of hills etc 🙂 and I found the Trodos to be very rocky, kinda reminded me of afan with all the rocks, The trails that I was guided on in the Trodos where just the marked hiking/walking trails,so go to the local tourist info place and get a map of the E4 tril route etc, unlike here the walkers are happy to share the trails, none of the locals seems to mind where you ride....one word of warning...as i found out in night rides..there tends to be a fair bit of poaching goes on,despite being nature reserves with no hunting signs I have never seen so many shotguns cartridges littered around in my life..I stumbled upon 2 hunting parties..was a bit scary at first but they where all cool (well I wasn't a bird 🙂 0

MBR done a test out there a few years back best see on there web site
for info.

Trodos is a fair distance But for what i know be excellent But there
are some trails at the back of old Larnaca which are more like old
walking trails loose but solid ground
Watch out for kids and adults out shooting and look out for local nutters using some of the trails as short cuts on the hidden trails.
