Hi,

I've recently bought a new cannondale caadx ultegra that I intend to use for cyclocross, winter road training and the occasional summer touring trip.

I want to buy a new disc wheel set so I'm not having to switch thr tyres around all the time.

I'm thinking of using the wheels supplied with the bike for winter road rides and buying a new set for off road use which I'll run tubeless on. I might also use the new set for short touring trips if they are stronger and more durable.

So far, I've done a bit of research and I'm down to three choices:

Hope Stans Alpha 400. http://www.hopetech.com/product/stans-alpha-pro-4/

Kinesis crosslight cx disc http://www.kinesisbikes.co.uk/Catalogue ... lincher-V4

Kinesis crosslight cx disc HD http://www.kinesisbikes.co.uk/Catalogue ... C-Clincher

Any advice on which ones might be more suitable? Or any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
Tom

I've had crosslight disc and found that the alu nipples corroded resulting in broken spokes. Had a freehub issue too which required a warranty claim.

Don't know anything about the HD ones.

I now have stans alpha on hope hubs. They've been fine. Bit heavier but serviceable with the brass nipples. Quite tight to get tyres on and off though.

I've had a set of the Crosslight Disc wheels on my Tripster previously but upgraded them to a set of Hunt X Mason wheels.
The Hunt wheels are much better, I've given mine loads of grief off-road since I bough them and they're still perfectly straight which was a surprise!

I've had Crosslight V3 for 2 years and my nips are fine, riding road and CX on them. Prices have jumped with the V4.

I've got a set of the Hunt 4Season Gravel wheels arriving today, having gone through the same thought process as you. Bit of a lead time on them, but if they're anything like my Hunt road wheels, they'll be superb.

Cosines look excellent for the money - i'm considering a set myself, but whist there are reports of people doing it, they don't meet the OP's requirement for tubeless ready.

Last weekend saw my 5th front wheel nipple failure on my Crosslights, they really don't like my 65kg of hamster-like powerhouse.
So, not those.

Thanks for the advice and feedback. I'll do some research into the hunt wheels and the cosines. They both sound like good options, Tom
