I am commuting on a hybrid on some pretty sick gnarly freeride old railway plus road, any good tyres that will not puncture on sharp gravel but roll well on the road? 700c flava

Never had any problems with the Conti Cyclocross Plus, but they are a bit heavier than others. I found that they rolled well on road, but the centre tread was worn halfway after 200 miles.

I have 700c x 28mm Schwalbe Marathons on my commuter / cross bike and though they're primarily designed as an on-road tyre, they have excellent puncture protection and a bit of tread pattern too. They do them in larger sizes - 32mm and I think wider too. You can put 80psi in if you want for fast road stuff but when I've used them on gravel, they've been fine. I also really like the reflective strip on the sidewall, but that's the onset of middle age, I think.

Schwalbe marathon extremes are pretty damned good. Loads of knob, puncture protection etc it's their offroad touring tyre. 700x40 and a narrower size too.

I used these to ride to Belgium and then raced xc on the same tyre.

Just got myself some cruiser-y schwable fat franks in cream. Cos why not.

Actually, extra visibility, that's why! definitely. And they won't mark the walls as much when I'm carrying my bike upstairs. All about the practicality...
