Not only segregated lanes for cyclists, but automatic lights giving priority signalling!

Will our town planners ever think this way...

The idea behind this seems to be if a person commuting to work realizes that they can get somewhere twice as fast if they use a bike, they will be far more likely to jump on a 2-wheeler thus reducing the amount of traffic and carbon footprint. This could be something that gets realized pretty fast based on how time focused our society has become. Plus, if more people ride, the demand for improved bicycle-friendly infrastructure will grow along with them.

No chance whatsoever.

My town planners have just worked out that they can turn the A61 into a flagship 'radial cycle route' if just add a few blue arrows here and there (pointing in random directions, obviously).

The answer to our transport / pollution / obesity problems is clearly 'more and more cars, forever and ever, ahmen'...

Yup. The chasm is mentality between UK and places like Denmark is staggering. Suggest to most in the UK that we speed up cyclists journeys by giving priority over cars and I think some heads might actually explode.
