Great video from Evan Edinger comparing cycling in the two cities. Unsurprising spoiler, whilst acknowledging the fact London has improved significantly over the last decade or so, Paris wins hands down  A radical shift in policy driven primarily by a desire to improve air quality has seen Paris transform cycling and pedestrian infrastructure in a relatively short time. Paris still isn't perfect for cyclists, but it's making huge strides in the right direction. It just goes to show what can be achieved with political will.Â
He actually made a very positive video about cycling in London a short while back and about the benefits of cycling in general which was pretty uplifting, moving even and is definitely worth a watch too - Linky.
I visited Paris late last year and was amazed at how much the streets had improved since I last visited. You could get pretty much anywhere on cycle lanes, I rode around the whole inner city and it was a much better experience than London. Only exception iirc was parts of the west near Bois de boulogne, Paris's equivalent of K&C?
One particular example that struck me is that now the Tunnel de l'Etoile under the Arc de Triomphe is a bike tunnel. Not something that would happen in London. Hammersmith Bridge is currently cycling and walking only but that's because they don't have the money to open it back up to cars and buses yet.
