I'm looking to cycle to some friends who live on the outskirts of Leeds (Otley)from my home in Ruthin. I've looked a route and it takes me through the centre of Manchester (eek!). Anyone advise on the route through the city centre? Thanks.

ruthin to liverpool then along the leeds-liverpool canal? Couple of mates did the leed liverpool canal the other week, about 115miles I think. Not the most 'interesting' of routes though I could imagine, canal paths tend to be pretty flat!
