Hi all,
Trying to plan a cycling / camping trip with my sister and law. They're keen to do some cycling and camping. Kids are 6-11 in age, all of whom can cycle.
Ideally looking for a campsite or area within about an hour of Cardiff where I can plan a off road cycling trip which starts / ends at a campsite - ideally I think it might be a figure of loop route so that the two older kids can do a longer ride with the 6 year old bailing after about 5 miles.
Any suggestions? Campsites that have a river or are a bit more 'rural/wild' are a bonus.
If no campsites, ideas for rides are good too - I can then track down a campsite.
Taff trail? Starts in Cardiff but you could adjust start to a more rural area like Talybont to Brecon.
Talybont-on-usk has a nice campsite. Rides along the canal for the youngest, bits of the Gap ride ect for the older kids ?
Forest of Dean. Friends went camping and cycling with 8 and 10 year olds, loved it. Not sure which campsite though.
Good ideas - will investigate those.
There is a campsite right in the middle of Cardiff (Cardiff Caravan & Camping Park) which has access to the Taf trail. From there you can cycle off-road all the way up to Brecon (50 miles each way) if you wish, but would recommend heading up to Castle Coch and around the woods there.
Lot's of good things in walking distance (town centre, the castle, Pontcanna).
Doesn’t cwmcarn have a campsite/camping pods? Might be a bit much on the climbing front for young kids though? Afan still have camping?
