Hi all

I've been off the forum for a little while as I sort of tell out of love with cycling for a bit so I took a bit of time out and did other things, but I'm being drawn back in again!

I can get an while via our cycle2work ache and because we use Halfords and I want an easy time as possible I wondered if anyone on here had experience of the bikes I'm considering

Boardman HUB 8.9e with the Tasha system
Haibike Trekking 4.0 with a Yamaha motor with 500w battery
Voodoo Bizango e with Shimano steps 27000 motor

I'm being drawn towards the Boardman as it seems like it could do most of what I want - commute, a lttle bit of bimbling and some gentle gravel. But it doesn't look like I can fit much bigger tyres than the 35's or 38s that are fitted

The other two bikes I realise are different but they are capable of some gentl trails and fire roads

Has anyone got one of them and could share their experiences - good and/or bad?

Thanks

I have the Boardman adv 8.9e.

Done about 2k commuting on it since March. Only complaint is the groupset. The shifting is ok once you swap out the rear mech but braking is weak. Swapped for GRX and been happy since.

I put my gravel wheelset with 42mm gravel king SK on when I go offroad. I didn't even have to remove the full length mudguard so there's clearance.

Thanks - sorry about the original post - autocorrect on a Fire Tablet is rubbish!!

I was looking at the Hybrid version of the Boardman - I think that it's got a slightly different frame to the ADV version as yours has got a rear thru axle I think

How do you find the Fazua motor? How's the assistance and real world capacity?

thanks again

you know that the cycle2work scheme can also be used at Tredz? And many independents (but some charge a fee), so your not just limited to Halfords.

Also got the ADV 8.9e (drop bar)
also using it to commute. have taken it down some rougher stuff...by rough i mean a gravel track lol
Fazua drive is excellent for me, takes the edges off the hills
brakes are pretty good now i attacked the pads with sandpaper
fitting full length guards took some re engineering.. these were the sks aluminium from memory...
only ridden it with the stock 38mm whatever tyres.. definitely much harsher than a 650b with big gravelkings... might have to try my other wheels on it 😀

Yes, mine has a rear thru axle so the frame is probably different.

The Fazua is good for me. I would say even on the highest setting, the assist is quite weak. It helps you out other than does all the work for you which is what I am after.

My commute is 7 miles with 80m of climb each way. I always use max assist. If I ride normally, down to 30% after 2 days or 10% if I let it do most of the work.

The software is quite good in terms of setting up your own profiles for assist. It also sends out power and cadence through ble which is quite good if you have a compatible computer.

Yes, thanks re: Tredz - that's where I'd seen the Haibike. They also have the Giant Fathom that's available. I was just interested to see what people's thoughts were re: power assistance. I live in a pretty hilly part of Mid Wales so some extra help up the hills would be very warmly welcomed
