My wife is (cough) getting a new bike under her cycle to work scheme.

The first payment has just been taken from her salary, even though the bike is now likely to only be delivered in August.

Mrs FD is happy with this as she says shes just happy to get it paid off asap. Does this cause any problems anywhere?

I know in the past when I had salary sacrifice cars the payments only came out of my salary once I had received the car.

Thanks

Nope, it's fine. You basically bought a voucher to buy a bike, so you start paying off the voucher straightaway even if you haven't bought a bike with it yet, or received a bike you've ordered.

The deductions start once you get the voucher. Getting the bike isn’t really anything to do with the scheme, that’s the shops job.

All it means is that she can buy you another bike in June next year rather than August next year 😁

Double win.

Better to get it paid off ASAP.
Mrs_oab employer took two months to organise the payment to be deducted - so it feels frustrating as we are paying it off 'longer'.

Tax dodger..😜

also this..

As an aside, top tip.. every time I’ve bought bike to work I’ve just bought it with cash at the time as the bike I wanted was in stock, and they’ve refunded me a few months later when the voucher arrived. Even Halfords did this. Means I don’t end up with a voucher for a bike that is no longer available which happened first time I used the scheme

Other way round for mine. The bike isnt available yet. Was supposed to be early July, now pushed back to early August.

An extra 2 months of your wife not being able to cycle to work must be terrible for her.😉
