Another roaring success! Well publicised, well timed, roads are full of us! 😆
To paraphrase Syndrome off The Incredibles: When every day is cycle to work day, then none really are ..
Saw one other rider today and he's one I always see. White beard flowing over his shoulder, smells of dirty hair.
i rode to work today. Saw the usual familiar faces.
Yay! 2 of us 👍
I wonder if putting it on in the school summer hols is a positive or not. On the up side, the roads are theoretically quieter with less cars so maybe less intimidating for newbie cycle commuters. On the downside, less people to get involved because they are not commuting.
But....on my social media feed, or spammy emails from cycle retailers - I saw zilch promoting it.
well I cycled to work for the first time in ages today, not because it was cycle to work day just because I've mainly been working from home recently but I'm in the office today.
I'm WFH but will be nipping out for a lunchtime ride, same as I do every most days that I WFH
Was it cycle to work day?
Just as well I don't work for a national sports/active organisation! Oh wait!
I cycled in to the office today. Glorious. Over Woodbury Common and down in to Exmouth.
Saw the usual commuters on their bikes.
Hadn't realised it was Cycle to Work Day either - just another gravel commute to Leeds for me, as per usual.
Another pointless token gesture thing - occasionally, if you work for a company that already has a reasonable level of Cycle to Work, they might put on a free breakfast or something, we had that a few times at a previous place I worked.
I say "free breakfast", I mean we got a free coffee and either a croissant or a pain au chocolat. Not both. 😉
It was quite annoying to see the people that normally drove to work ride in (probably from where they'd parked their car around the corner..) and receive free coffee. They'd then go straight back to driving again the next day.
Cycled to work today, first I knew of it was an e-mail from Planet-X trying to sell me an e-bike a few minutes ago.
Poorly publicised and definitely an element of crazy-legs post too.
What is needed is attitude, policy and infrastructure change to create a long term change in habits not a day of free croissants and tokenism.
I was late leaving work yesterday and it was absolutely packed full of cyclists on the Embankment, I almost considered hopping over the kerb onto the road.
Today, I’m out after work so it was just a Boris bike from the station to the office, and I only did that as it was cycle to work day 😉
Does zwifting on my lunch break between TEAMS calls count?
(not very well publicised, first I've heard of it!)

London is genuinely getting to the point where you just need to reverse the existing layout.
Instead of 3 lanes for cars and one for bikes, you need for for cars, one for buses and 2 for bikes!
I want a free croissant

I dunno. That sounds to me like it had done its job. It got a dyed in the wool driver commuter to try it. Sure, they were not instantly won over. But the experience, attempted for the lure of a few free calories, has been a proof of concept for them. They now appreciate the cycling in is for them possible. That's the first step of a slow win.
Cycled to work along the canal - no publicity at work at all about it...goes to check.
I usually ride to work but drove today because it was pissing it down this mornjng
