Just felt the need to give these guys in Hebden Bridge a quick shout out. I've been amassing the usual cycling spare parts over the last few years and recently decided it was all getting a bit much! So, I decided it was about time to have a mass clear out.
Most was of little value, well certainly not enough for me to be bothered with the fuss of ebay etc. However it was far too good to just throw in the tip. Frames, Brakes, Wheels, Tyres etc etc....
So, after asking around I was pointed in the direction of Cycle Recycle in Hebden Bridge Linky
What a great idea! I assume its run as a charity, a least that's what I was told when I was pointed in their direction although their is no mention of that on their website. Anyway, hopefully somebody will get a nice cheap bike built up and my garage is a lot neater. I never knew such schemes existed so thought I'd make a quick post in case anybody else is looking to clear out old gear.
There's a few about but they don't seem to advertise themselves a great deal (or at all).
There's a shop on Westgate just below the market place in Shipley that has a number of second hand/reconditioned bikes, http://www.margaretcareyfoundation.org.uk/2015/04/mcf-bike-sale-thebikery-shipley-2nd-may/ . There's also one in Leeds but I've not been to that one.
If folk have more links to similar shops we could have a list as a sticky.
I belive pop up bikes in Manchester do a similar thing, I was supposed to go there on Saturday, made it as far as Stalybridge buy was drenched so I bravely got the train back to Huddersfield!
