Those of you who cycle to actual campsites rather than wild camping. How do you secure your bike overnight?

A lock 🙂

Anything from a cafe lock to a folding style D lock depending on how I feel about the trip overall.  Just did 4 days 145 miles off-road carrying an 800g folding lock as I didn't know how often we'd have to leave the bikes out of sight.

I've got a hubba bubble 2 man tent and the bike mostly fits within the entrance I'm not using. Also have a rebus lock through the back wheel and frame. I did make a booby trap thingy connected to a rape alarm but didn't end up using it.

I removed the axles. I tuck it under my tent and tie it to the tent really subtly. I'm a light sleeper though.

If needed, I've a light cable lock. I think a pair of secateurs would cut it though...

I don't when camping but have a cheap cable lock for running into a supermarket etc.  However my dad bike / touring bike is not a cool appealling bike, its 90s MTB with guards so that helps

A basic lock and be aware - and if concerned tie it to a guy line.  the campsite in Cardiff had secure bike parking - a locking container.  Only time I have seen that tho.

On the rare occasion I've camped at a site with my bike I've either used nothing at all if I've deedm it safe enough, or used a cheap lock around a fencepost etc. A thin piece of dyneema cord wrapped around the bike and the zip pull of your sleeping bag might be handy 🙂

I've used an Abus Bordo folding lock but that was mainly for popping into shops / distilleries.

I got a cheap motorcycle disc lock with a movement alarm and stuck that on.

I did cycle around France for a few days with a Hiplok Gold @ 2.2kg and, like the trainline at the back of the house, actually got quite used to it.  I still ride with it on night rides where we'll end in the pub for an hour or two. I'm not sure I'd really want to use it for particularly  hilly trips or any alpine stuff though, but it definitely helped me feel the bike was safer - even if just that it would be less of an easy target than the other locks in the group.

Depends on the campsite, if out in the sticks I've been know to tie it to a guy line, remove the axles or loosen skewers and maybe use a voile strap around wheel and frame......tbh it's easier to take a lightweight lock 😄

Similar to others - a basic light lock plus ties etc, things that will make a noise or disturbance if the bike is moved. Helmet clipped around the wheel, gears out of shift, QR loose, all would do the trick. I'd also be sleeping very close to it, my tarp-tent is a simple one with a fairly open front.

I normally have a cheap and light cable lock with me for cafe/shop stops, and pitch my tent next to a fence or something. Luckily I haven't stayed in a campsite that hasn't made me feel too worried!

The same cable and padlock I've been using for the last 25+ years.

A length of (3mm)stainless steel cable and a shackle, with the turn bolt swapped for an Allen bolt.
There is often two of us,so the bikes are locked together.

I have a lightweight lock for going into shops etc that I attach while camping, even just wheels etc to make it trickier for someone very casual. Have considered bringing a wheel into the tent with me. I've used one of these a lot as well:

KINOEE Bicycle Alarm, Anti-Theft Burglar Wireless Alarm with Remote Control for Bicycle/motorcycle/Electric Tricycle/car/door/window, Waterproof,113dB Super Loud Sound, 7 level Sensitivity https://amzn.eu/d/eA6IKth

Really quite small and very light. It givrs a chirrup if nudged lightly, that I think might be enough to deter anyone poking about. Bloody loud when it goes off properly!

I also used one of these once when camping for two weeks and leaving the bike unattended at the campsite for whole days at a time. It was carried there in a car though!

I would consider using a couple of these at an angle with a lock through them so that they can't be I wound without cutting the lock.

Jiodux Tent Pegs Ground Anchor... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07RTRHVRB?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Generally I prefer to stay in places where I'm not too worried though - most of this stuff is only really worth bothering with if on a tour where you might end up staying on the edge of a town or something.

I use a hiplok z lok. You can use multiple ones to daisy chain them so if your riding with someone else you just carry one each.

I don't like the key to open them, so if I was buying another I'd buy the slightly thicker one with a combination lock.

I imagine I could cut through it easily but it's usually just enough to put people off.

Have never bothered. I just sleep naked next to the bike.

Chain and padlock.
Bring inside where I can.
Or

Hide in the trees or undergrowth away from tent..

Depends also on site vibe.

At that point, I'd start to worry I was less secure than the bike!
