I know that CTC used to offer this but looking at their website, it may no longer be the case.

Does anyone know of an organisation that for an annual premium will assist someone who's had a mechanical either off or on road?

As always, thanks. 🙂

Lol at that vid 😀

project - thanks for that but the 25 mile restriction is, er, restricting. Fine for riding from home though.

Am just getting a bit worried in case of a puncture, my fingers are swollen with limited dexterity so really struggle. For a peace of mind thing, it could be worthwhile.

hmm, that ETA thing only actually pays for your transport back to your car/station etc. so you would still have to find a local taxi company who would take you and your bike.

Black taxies, if you are in range, will normally do the job. Worked when my chain broke.

could you take a lightweight, non see through plastic sheet with you and a mobile phone. (wheels out, wrap frame and bike up then call taxi and check it's a decent sized car) - worked in Orkney

If I was in your shoes I'd be looking to avoid punctures, eg. by using slime filled tubes etc and ensuring bike was as well maintained as possible. But obviously even then problems happen. In my experience you can usually find someone to help as soon as you get to some sort of civilisation if you just ask.

Scotrail used to offer a service, free of charge ? that it you had a valid ticket for that day they would get you to bike shop / station etc... ...not sure if they still do.

Yeah, Scotrail still offer this. Just buy the cheapest single ticket you can find on part of your route to be eligible for it.
