Trying to plan our weekend adventure and haven't fully decided where to go yet but considering heading mid Wales and doing CYB so was just wondering if there's any off piste type stuff worth chucking in with the beast and the other options there?
Interested in this as well, I've heard there's some but no idea where!
I know there's some stuff up the Tarw side but i've only seen exits, not where to get onto it
Theres a nice additional 9.5 mile natural bridleway/byeway type loop to the east of the Hermon Descent, ends with an exposed decent that I think has has been used for enduros there. It involved a wee bit of bike a hike over a bit off marshy ground where trail disappeared for a bit though .
Blue Trail here :

I've been riding in CyB since the early 90's prior to the official trails being waymarked by Dafydd and Sian.
There's loads of old tracks which have become hidden and therefore hard to describe how to find. A lot are on the Tarw side of the road but there's a fair few miles on the Cafe side as well. Just get some height gain and go exploring- some are now marked as footpath only but that's up to you đŸ˜‰
I'm there all week from 29th if you want some help finding them.
As for the surrounding area just look at your OS map and make up some loops you won't be disappointed.
I've found a few good bits up there, just by looking at the 1:25k map. That said there is nothing that sets the world on fire but it's good for a change of you rode there a lot.
I know of two trails that are off piste and worth having a look at. First is at the start of MBR, instead of going up Brutus, look to your behind you. Trail goes goes back down to the skills area so can easily be looked back around. Just be careful of the very end as it’s very steep onto flat. The next is at the bottom of Herman on dragons back. Instead of going up the road climb tack the road to the right, and right again to cross of the small bridge. Next take another right and then a left and start climbing up the fire road (think there are gates there to go through) in to a lorry turning circle. Climb up the fire road until you come to the first switchback corner. Here is the first start section with a grassy start. Again it gets steeper and crosses over a stream. Following this single track out on to the fire road for the next 100m before turning right and climbing up a shingle track. This will start to head down on to another Down hill trail. This will lead on to a very very narrow trail that will lead down to a road. Follow this along before crossing the footbridge to get back to the bottom of Herman trail.
Sounds like there may not be a tonne of stuff then, I guess we may just stick to the signposted stuff. Might switch and go either to the peaks or Afan yet.
