My new bike will be getting some shiney new wheels (so I can sell the stock ones on un-used)

Im on my 3rd set of Hoops on my 3rd MTB & want some for my CX.

The rim options only include 2 CX ones (budget doesn't stretch to carbon) but they both have machined braking surfaces which look pish IMO.

Got me thinking about selecting 29er MTB rims instead.....

At 15 stone, I think Crest are out.

Thinking about Arch EX which are 24.6mm wide - would this be ok running 32c rubber?

Thanks in advance,

Alan.

What's your budget? Would you consider another hub or does it have to be hope?

Aren't arch ex and crest the same profile?

If so you'll have no problem with CX tyres.

Arch EX will run fine with 32mm rubber. In fact, it'll give it a nice, fuller, profile.

£350 ish - might consider others....

Yes, Arch EX are the same profile as Crest, just beefier internally.

Thanks.

I'm using Arch Ex on my cx with 32-35mm tyres. They've been faultless and tubeless is so well suited to what I ride my cx on (I was previously plagued by pinch flats and just last ride a thorn puncture was nicely sealed without drama) . I'm a stone or so heavier than the OP and run at 45-60psi depending on what I'm riding and how much road there'll be.
