I have stock CX wheels.
Is there a ghetto option for going tubeless on CX 700 size wheels ?
People will suggest just tape but IME with low pressure and hard cornering in actual cross racing just using tape on a normal rim can lead to the bead unseating and having a burp. If you have a tubeless ready rim this isnt as bad but can still be a problem with slack non-tubeless tyres.
Best conversion is to use a proper rim strip, ghetto version of this is make an innertube rim strip.
Agree with Stato. I've tried a few different ways, in the end settled for ghetto rim strips and hunchinson tubeless ready X tyres with Stan's fluid. Still couldn't run then as low a a tub, but way better than tubes.
Wire bead griffo are good as the sidewall is a little stiffer than more expensive tyres. I run one on the front after having a similar more pricy Clement constantly fold over on me trying to turn hard on grass.
Thanks.
Who sells these cx rim strips ?
I currently have stock fuji oval make rims and racing Ralph cx tyres
Stans

This one ?
So ok with non specific tubeless tyres and rims ?
Yes those. When taping the rim don't be stingy, use 2 or three layers and make sure you have completely sealed the spoke holes.
I used one of those kits on some standard 26" rims and it worked fine.
Ive got old stans race gold wheels on the cross bike but it's still a bit hot and miss going tubeless with non tubeless tyres.
Conti total fail
Racing Ralph mostly worked but very fragile
Spesh ones worked fine for me even before they made them in a tubeless version
